Oh my God, we need The Gray Man to come out on Netflix already because it stars all our hot Hollywood boyfriends.
Based on a 2009 novel by Mark Greane, a spy-versus-spy, cat-and-mouse game thriller. We are all in for the unparallelled eye candy (more on that later) and the edge-of-your-seat suspense. What is better than a summer smoulder?
The hype doesn't stop there – The Gray Man's $200 million budget makes it, as of 2021, the most expensive Netflix original movie. Helmed by Marvel's biggest names – when it comes to directors AND actors – this one is a must watch.
Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming blockbuster.
What's the confirmed cast for The Gray Man?
Alongside Ryan Gosling as 'The Gray Man' and Chris Evans as villain Lloyd Hansen, Regé-Jean Page (of Bridgerton fame) will also star Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, and Ana de Armas.
The Gray Man is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who've helmed many of the biggest Marvel movies, including Avengers: Endgame. We can't wait to see what a Marvel reunion between the duo and Evans (Captain America) will lead to.
What's the plot for The Gray Man?
It follows the story of Court Gentry (aka Six), a former CIA agent turned assassin and “highly-skilled, agency-sanctioned merchant of death” is targeted by another former agency man, played by Evans, who will “stop at nothing to take him out”.
Six apparently must look to agent Dani Miranda (played by Ana de Armas) to watch his back as he fights for survival. Do we predict some female heroine energy?
“Don't mess with Ama,” Chris Evans has joked about his co-star's physical abilities for stunts and fighting during a promotional interview for the film. “She is a dangerous person, take notice… she's a weapon.” YAS.
Regé-Jean Page is set to play a mysterious character called Carmichael. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he opened up about how it felt to read the script and what it was like to work with the Russo brothers.
“Page one to the end, when I read this thing, I enjoyed myself. I could see the whole thing in my mind,” he said.
"I had no idea how the hell we were gonna pull it off, but then I remembered the Russos are writing it, and they can pull off pretty much anything you can imagine, which makes it fun again.
"You get on set [and] there are no limits to your imagination, no limits to what's possible, and we come out with this."
Since breaking out as the sexy, brooding Duke of Hastings on Bridgerton, Regé-Jean Page has hosted Saturday Night Live and signed on to a Dungeons & Dragons movie alongside Chris Pine.
Here's hoping he works with more of Hollywood's beloved Chrises. Maybe a buddy comedy starring himself and Chris Hemsworth? A satire film where Page is named Chris but Pine, Hemsworth, and Evans aren't? The possibilities are endless. If anyone has the smoulder to join the ranks of the Hollywood Chrises, it's Regé-Jean Page.
Frankly, this entire movie is just going to be one giant smoulder, and we're on board.
Is there a trailer for The Gray Man?
There is indeed. If you will, think James Bond levels of fights, stunts and car chases with even more gorgeous men. After watching this, chances are your heart rate will be sky high for more than one reason.
When will The Gray Man be released?
It's set to drop on Netflix (as well as in select UK cinemas) on Friday 22 July. Mark your calendars.
